Submission of the visa application
Due to data protection regulations, the Embassy is not able to provide information about pending C or D visa applications by email. The Consulate will inform you of the decision of the determining authority on visa applications by sending the decision.
C visa
A Schengen visa is an authorization issued by a Schengen state that allows travelers to enter the Schengen area for the following purposes:
- planned short stay or transit trough the territory of a Schengen State
(short stay visa)
The Schengen visa and entry rules apply to short- term stays of no more than 90 days. A short stay uniform visa authorizes the bearer to stay up to 90 days within any 180 day period in the Schengen area.
You can apply for a Schengen C visa through VFS global an external service provider and only in cases of special consideration at the Consular Office of the Embassy of Hungary in Cairo.

D visa:
Starting from the 1st of March, 2024, the new legislation on immigration, Act XC of 2023 on the General Rules for the Entry and Residence of Third-Country Nationals entered into force. The D visa applications can be submitted under the provisions of the new legislation.
A residence permit is required for stays exceeding 90 days within a 180-day period for third-country nationals. Important: the residence permit always has to be linked to a specific purpose. The purpose of residence must be specified by the applicant before submitting the application.
Please note that the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing is responsible for handling D visas.

D visa applications can be submitted through the VFS external service provider, to make an appointment with the VFS external visa service to apply for a C/D visa, please contact https://visa.vfsglobal.com/egy/en/hu
The following type D visa applications can be submitted at the VFS external visa provider:
- Residence permit for the purpose of employment
- Residence permit for seasonal employment
- Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies
- Residence permit for the purpose of training
- Residence permit for the purpose of family reunification

For data protection reasons, information about the state of any visa application can strictly only be provided to the client (the person submitting the application), anyone else will be denied access to any information about the case.

AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION AN EXTRA SET OF SINGLE SIDED COLOR PHOTOCOPY OF ALL THE PAGES OF THE SUBMITTED PASSPORT AND ALL ORIGINAL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS MUST BE ATTACHED IN A GOOD QUALITY (EVERY PAGES MUST BE CLEAR VISIBLE AND READABLE)!
